Sharing documented knowledge

Dear KB members,
For Knowledge Sharing People to People Network has to be built sound enough. Discussion forums are one of them to connect people to people and share the knowledge. I would like to know from the KB members in what other way we can enhance and improve people to people connectivity and especially to encourage / motivate to participate and contribute to share knowledge in documented formats.

It would be grateful if i can know more on "HOW to DO this" rather than just theory!. This is to enhance more on Knowledge sharing culture and improve people connectivity apart from discussion forums
Well that is an interesting question. I used to ask myself the same question, and I still do. I will give you my experience in some form of knowledge sharing and you see if you can use it.
We have internal bulletin which have more articles on things happening inside organization. Thing is, since I’m the editor, I must talk to people to write something, and with time, I had cases when they asked me if they can send me some articles. Bulletin is made in .pdf format and is posted on internal web site, where people download it freely.
Now, I want to start blog for different categories of employees. My point is, if they find the right information at the right time, they’ll start to appreciate it, and hopefully give they own contribution.

KM Community - Mumbai

Mr. Alakh Asthana

17-Jul-08 08:34am

I'm Alakh Asthana, moderator of the KM - Community based in Mumbai. The primary objective is to bring together KM practitioners so as to leverage the collective knowledge

of the community members. The group will meet once a month at the office premises of one of the community members.

The forum would facilitate collaborative learning and experiential knowledge sharing

around KM strategies, best practices, methodologies, tools, and techniques.

KM departments of organizations in verticals of IT, consulting and previous MAKE (Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises) award winners have joined hands in the initiative.

We look forward to have you as an active member and take the Mumbai KM Community to a global standpoint.

Regards,
Alakh Asthana

Steps to build P2P KM network

Mr Rajiv Deo

20-Jul-08 10:34am

1. Know people inside out. Record their interests and motivations.
2. Create opportunities for people with common interests and motivations to connect.
3. Encourage free flow knowledge sharing during those events.
4. Identify knowledge experts and knowledge seekers based on the P2P interactions.
5. Publish WIFM

I have used these steps to build networked KM in corporate setups.

Hope it helps!

Rajiv
