A team at Macuarium is looking into the issue of how an innocent bystander becomes a CoP member. In other words, what stages are passed, what criteria can be set to define each stage, what influences the change between one stage and the next...
Think about it. Why does a reader become a lurker? How come a lurker becomes a "legitimate" member? What pushes a member into the CoP core? What puts him/her off it?
What's your experience, or your opinion... or your favourite theory? Convincing ones will be quoted in the paper :-).
