The Value of Integrative Thinking

What I found in many postcommunist countries is the incredible shortage of integrative thinking, a sort of American problem-solving approach. KM would be a good vehicle to address that shortcoming because there are some advanced narrow disciplines in Poland, for example, but the cooperation among them and inter-institutional cooperation is very poor, a legacy of bureaucratic communism. It never ceases to amaze me that I (a relative outsider to Poland)in many cases know much more what is going on in some research institutes in Poland that their competitors or collaborators across the street!
