Before starting the theme, a brochure has been provided for marketing purposes. It describes the initial theme objectives and the planned related program. Have a glance how the program looked like from the brochure
CEN terminology:
The CEN terminology is one of the keystones of the T&T SIG. it provides a list of 30 terms and many definitions. The work is on going, in collaboration with CEN and T&T community (CEN terminology)
Weekly digests:
Every each week, as small digest was provided that summarised quickly the happenings and results of the past week.
Week 1: A digest of the first comments that have been made about the CEN terminology available on knowledgeboard after the first week.
Week 2: Summary of two online workshops and some reactions to the CEN terminology.
Week 3: Summary of the workshop with Karl Erik Sveiby.
Week 4: Results of the survey - first conclusions about Theme 4.

What is the common terminology in KM? (12/03/03)
The discussion revolve arround the following topics:
- Integration of high level concepts in the glossary,
- Emotional intelligence,
- interacting process with SMEs,
- the two types of definition that must be presented by the glossary.

Main points of discussion:
- KM is the art of creating value by leveraging intagible assets,
- role of trust,
- F2F meetings to overcome the barriers,
- the european touch of KM,
- knowledge as action.
Interview with Mounib Mekhilef responsible for the CEN standardisation body glossary. The following topics have been addressed:
- Glossary role,
- selected approach,
- overview,
- next steps.
The following topics were discussed:
- Fitness for purpose: final objective must guide the glossary content,
- this glossary must be simple,
- adoption of the SMEs'slant.
Every week of the Theme 4 a new poll was presented to the members of the community in order to collect their opinion about some important questions. These questions are listed below.
1st poll: What is the main obstacle of a common terminology?
2nd poll: Orientation of an unified terminology?
3rd poll: What is a good definition of Knowledge Management?
4th poll: What do you expect from a unified KM terminology?
One survey have been carried out during the whole theme 4 duration. The objective was to help CEN people to freeze the list of the most important KM terms by taking into account the opinion of the KB community. The results of this survey are presented
here.
