26-Sep-02

2-6 September 2002, Sophia Antipolis, France
Reports & Results from the 2nd Knowledge Management Summer School entitled
"The New Scope of Knowledge Management in Theory and Practice"
| Review |

This year's second KMSS edition was organised by the European KM Forum, in partnership with CERAM, INRIA, ecKM and Groupe ESC-Marseille Provence. It took place at Sophia Antipolis which is situated in the middle of 'Telecom Valley' that reaches from Milan to Valencia and lies at the heart of the French Riviera, between Nice and Cannes only a few miles away from the beautiful Antibes. The picture shows some of the about 65 participants coming from 16 countries from all over Europe and also from North America, North Africa and Asia. Attendees' professions ranged from Ph.D. researchers to practitioners from consulting and industry. Lots of discussions and various cluster sessions among this truly multi-disciplinary participants were felt as one of the valued outcomes since it networked researcher with practitioner.
Some quotes say:
"KMSS is an excellent opportunity to exchange explicit knowledge, to articulate tacit and to create a shared context. And to find like-minded people to work together" Lilia Efimova
"Wonderful opportunity for networking, community formation, building friendships and support for individual and collaborative research! More!" Doug Seely
"The summer school was a great occasion to get in contact with people with the same interest in KM. The international aspect was quite enriching. The theoretical conferences and exercises were interesting. The geographical situation was wonderful." Nazanine Rashidiaw
Besides quiet a few more statements, comments and useful criticisms were received and will be of great benefit to prepare next year's 3rd Summer School edition KMSS 2003.
