Learning Module: Intercultural Communication

Culture is always linked to communication and includes a wide range of human experience including feelings, identity, and meaning-making. Effective intercultural communication is critical to the establishment and maintenance of intergroup relations and can help to foster knowledge exchange.

 

Because communication is the main means for connecting with others it has a major impact on intercultural interactions, this module aims to give an overview of the major concepts and theories that are useful to interpret intercultural communication and gives some explanations why people tend to choose different communication strategies like the difference between high- and low- context culture or the consciousness of time urgency.

 

To get a complete overview about "communication and management" please follow also the modules "key principles of communication" and "leadership and communication".
