The impact of KM in SMEs

The objective of this paper is to gain an understanding of knowledge management, and the way in which knowledge management impacts upon current organisations. After an introduction on the background of knowledge, a brief comparison will be given of data, information, and knowledge. What follows is an analysis of the impact of knowledge management on the three main corporate building blocks, which are corporate strategy, corporate culture, and systems. The impact of knowledge management on the three corporate building blocks is important in that it paves the way to formulating an understanding of knowledge management and its role within organisations.

Knowledge management dissertation
Hi Rajesh and Nazaar,
Thank you for the contributions to Knowledge management board. I found your experiences really interesting. My MBA dissertation is on The impact of Knowledge management in Small and medium scale enterprises.
Please send me useful links on KM, a draft proposal for my research topic, a sample questionaire for carrying out a knowledge audit (which is what I intend to do) and if possible a framework for my dissertation.

The purpose of the research is to study the current state of Knowledge Management (KM) practices, identify the shortcomings/strengths in KM practices and to suggest measures to leverage better KM practices for increased global competitiveness among the units in SMEs cluster. For the research work knowledge is defined as “a whole set of intuition, reasoning, insights, experiences related to customers, products ,technologies, processes, markets, competition and so on that enable effective action”. And knowledge management is defined, as “a systematic, organised, explicit and deliberate ongoing process of creating, disseminating, applying and updating the knowledge for achieving organisational objectives”.
